The Venue

Pentney Abbey is a dedicated wedding venue near Cat’s home village in Norfolk. The medieval gatehouse, where we will exchange personal vows, dates back to 1380 when it was a monastery.

The rose garden will be a backdrop for our drinks reception, and the medieval banquet hall will provide the setting for dinner.

We will be serving alcohol after the ceremony and with dinner, after which you are more than welcome to purchase additional drinks from the fully-stocked bar (card only), or you can indulge in endless tea, coffee and non-alcoholic options on us all day.

Getting Here

Train: There are both direct and connected services (via Cambridge) from King’s Cross and Liverpool Street to King’s Lynn. This is the closest rail station, a twenty minute cab away from the venue.

Car: If you prefer to drive from London, it’s a straight route along the M11 and A10, and takes roughly 2.5 hours. There is plenty of parking on site for those who want to make it a day trip.

Taxi: However you end up here, don’t get stuck. If you are relying on a designated driver, book a taxi in advance.

Accommodation

We picked the Sunday following July 4 to take advantage of the public holiday for those traveling from the US. There is no pressure to stay overnight or even until the end of the evening if you need to get back home for work the next day.

If you do want to stay the day before or after to make a weekend of it, here are a few suggestions

Pentney Abbey Bell Tents

There are five luxury bell tents on site at Pentney Abbey, complete with carpets, furniture, and tea/coffee making facilities for £85 per night (with breakfast included). We’d love for you to join us, let us know if you are interested by emailing us and find more pictures using the link below.

Pentney Village & Surrounding Area

If glamping is not for you, there are plenty of options within the village of Pentney close to scenic lakes and rolling fields. For those looking for a more lively scene, the historic market town of King’s Lynn is a twenty-minute cab away. Perfect for those looking to explore a new place or needing to make a swift journey back to London the next day via train or bus.
